Unico esempio in Sicilia di edificio destinato all'allevamento equestre di così grandi dimensioni (m.16.5 x 84) presentava una tipologia basilicale a tre "navate" con una teoria di quattordici arcate per lato sostenute da pilastri. La monumentale scuderia testimonia la grande passione per i cavalli coltivata dal Principe il quale riuscì a creare, mediante incroci tra razze italiche e germaniche, una sua razza di cui andava fiero. Costruita nel 1640 poteva contenere oltre cento cavalli e la facciata, che funge da fondale prospettico alla vasta piazza Branciforti, presenta un grande portale bugnato, simile a quello del palazzo, sovrastato da un'edicola contenente l'unica effigie pervenutaci del Principe. L'intaglio delle naturalistiche spirali in pietra è opera di G. Gallina da Enna.

THE STABLE

In Sicily it is the only separate stable used for the horse breeding. It was very large (16.5 x 84 metres) and it had a basilicas plan, divided into three 'naves' following the theory of the fourteen arches, collocated in each side and supported by pillars. The stately stable shows the Prince's profound passion for horses. He managed to create a new cross-breed making couple of Italian and German horses. The stable was built in 1640 and it can contain more than one hundred horses and the façade, which represents the front of Branciforti's square. It has a big portal surmounted by an aedicule where there is the only remaining image of the Prince. The sculpture of the naturalistic spirals was made by G. Gallina from Enna.
