GIARDINO GRANDE

Di questo incantevole giardino ricco di fontane, giochi d'acqua e Giardino grande percorsi tra boschetti di merangoli e piante rare, rimangono purtroppo le testimonianze documentarie ed alcune pregevoli tracce. Oggi è visibile una delle due porte d'ingresso sul cui architrave sta inciso CHRYSEIS VNDIS SICVLA TEMPE ovvero "dalle onde del fiume Crisa una Tempe sicula" alludendo alla valle, sacra ad Apollo, celebrata dai Greci per le sue bellezze. Sono scomparse la fontana Ovata circondata da sedili in pietra, quella dello Specchio delimitata da una balaustra, quella del Salto grande ed anche una grotta artificiale con all'interno un puttino di marmo, la fontana del Nettuno e quella del Padiglione circondata da comodi sedili.


THE BIG GARDEN

It was a wonderful garden. There were charming fountains, woods and rare plants, but now these beauties are recorded only in the documents of that age and few amazing traces of that 'paradise' remain for the tourists. Nowadays it can be seen only one of the two doors which led to the garden, surmounted by an architrave where it is carved CHRYSEIS SICVLA TEMPE "from the waves of the river Crisa a Sicilian Tempe" related to the Apollo's holy valley, celebrated by Greeks for its beauties. The inexorable passing of time wiped out the Ovata fountain, surrounded by some valuable stone chairs, the Mirror fountain, delimited by a balustrade, the fountain of Salto and an artificial cave. And then Neptune's fountain and Padiglione's one, surrounded by comfortable chairs.
